Road Trip 2026

Travel Like a Local Camp with Friends

For Solo Travelers Who Don’t Do Tours

You’re used to traveling on your own. The freedom and spontaneity of it. But Iceland isn’t like popular backpacking spots, it can be hard to meet people, It’s more expensive, and doesn’t always have that social, hostel-style vibe.

That’s why we created this tour.

It’s made for solo travelers aged between 20 - 40 years who could do Iceland alone but would rather share the experience with like-minded people. No big buses, no rigid schedules. Just a small group, 9 people, camping under the midnight sun, cooking together, swapping stories, and exploring the real Iceland with locals who know the way.

We’ll take you to our favorite campsites, mix popular sights with secret gems, and keep things flexible, fun, and budget-friendly. It’s not a tour. It’s a road trip with friends, and you're invited!

The Epic 6 day Itinerary*

Day 1: Arrivals & Welcome Vibes

You’ll book your own flight to Iceland and make your way to Reykjavík. It’s easy to take a bus or taxi from the airport. You book your own accommodation for the night. We highly recommend staying at Dalur Hostel, a relaxed, affordable spot just a 5-minute walk from Jóhanna’s place (she’s part of the crew).

In the evening, we’ll gather at her house for a cozy welcome night with pizza, great views, and a chance to meet the group. We’ll chat through the plan for the next few days and start the trip off with good food and good company.

Days 2–5: South Coast Road Trip

We hit the road for a 3-night camping trip along Iceland’s stunning south coast. We’ll stay at our favorite campsites, including Þakgil, Skaftafell and Vestmannaeyjar. Tents, sleeping bags, and mattresses are all provided.

Each day we’ll stop at a supermarket so you can pick out your food for the grill and breakfast for the next morning. We’ll cook and eat together at the campsites using shared grills. We’ll bring coals, sauces, cutlery, and coolers to keep everything fresh.

Expect a mix of iconic sights and hidden gems along the way. Sights we’ll see: Skógafoss, Nauthúsagil, Vestmannaeyjar, Reynisfjara, Skaftafell, Jökulsárlón + many other ones! On Day 5, we head back to Reykjavík with stops along the way.

Days 6-7: The Final Adventure + Farewell

On our last day together, we’ll hike to Glymur, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls. A scenic trail with river crossings and epic views. After the hike, we’ll relax at Hvammsvík Hot Springs with oceanside pools and mountain views, a peaceful alternative to the crowded Blue Lagoon.

In the evening, we’ll head downtown for a final dinner together and maybe check out Reykjavík’s nightlife, the perfect way to end the trip.

You’ll need to book your own accommodation in Reykjavík for the last two nights. Dalur Hostel is a great option again. On day 7 you travel back home, or if you’re planning to explore more of Iceland on your own after the trip, we’re happy to offer tips and help you plan your next steps.

* Sometimes the weather in Iceland can be a bit tough. And while most of the time it is fine and you will still be able to enjoy what the country has to offer, sometimes it can affect your plans. We are going camping so we have to be flexible in terms of the weather. We know the country like the back of our hand and will have stunning alternatives of places to go if weather is affecting our original plan of travelling on the South Coast. We ask you to keep in mind that it will be much more enjoyable camping and exploring in better weather elsewhere in the country if the South Coast is soaking wet! But we of course hope for the best!

Prices and Important Info

This trip will be one of a kind, including sights the major companies don’t visit like the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), Glymur, Nauthúsagil and Þakgil. This is also a rarely seen price in Iceland for a trip that feels more like a road trip with friends rather than a big organized tour on a bus + visiting sights off the beaten path! For only 175.000 ISK, you’ll travel like we do, and see the country like we do. We are so excited for you to join us!

What’s Included

  • Jóhanna or Snæsa as a guide

  • 9 seater vehicle and all car costs

  • Camping gear, tents, mattresses, sleeping bags, cooler

  • Cutleries, sauces etc. for cooking at the campsites

  • Entrance to Hvammsvík baths

  • Ferry tickets to Vestmannaeyjar

What’s not Included*

  • Flights to and from Iceland

  • Airport transfers (Flybus the cheapest option)

  • Accommodation in Reykjavík

  • Food and drinks

  • Campsite fees (Approx. 2.500 ISK per person a night)

  • Entry to additional activities

*Since we’re a young company, accommodation isn’t included in our packages just yet. The good news is, this gives you the flexibility to choose the stay that matches your taste and budget. For a great option, we recommend Dalur Hostel. You can expect to pay between 25.000-30.000 ISK in accommodation for this trip, in total. That’s 3 nights at a hostel and 3 nights camping. Booking the hostel in Reykjavík sooner than later will ensure this very fair price but we can’t guarantee it will stay this low closer to the trip.

Camping in Iceland, what’s that like?

Camping is extremely popular among Icelandic people. It won’t be the luxury of a hotel bed but it is the most authentic way of travelling in Iceland.

We will provide you with:

  • Tents, insulated mattresses, warm sleeping bags

What you need to bring to stay warm during the night:

  • Wool or bamboo leggings and long sleeve shirt, hat, mitten, socks and a warm sweater. Layering up is best, and if it gets too warm you just take off layers. We will provide you with a packing list.

Temperatures range from 5-10° C during the night. With the things listed above, you will be fine and hopefully sleep like a baby!
